Max Grodénchik, born November 12, 1952, in Queens, New York, is an American actor renowned for his role as Rom, the gentle and comically earnest Ferengi on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a part he developed after initially auditioning for Quark; aside from DS9, he has performed in theater, film, and TV, with highlights including The Rocketeer, Barton Fink, Sister Act, and Apollo 13, and he now lives in Austria with his family, continuing to be a beloved figure within the Star Trek fandom for his memorable portrayal and convention appearances.
