Dead skin
Directed by Hwajin Lee
Eundal, a middle school girl, struggles with a deep-seated complex caused by flakes falling from her scalp. Fixated on the color white, she customizes even her school uniform, drawing attention from those around her. During a class discussion on “normality and abnormality,” Eundal voices her own beliefs. In that moment, the flakes from her hair drift through the classroom, landing on the shoulder of Jihoon, the boy she secretly admires. She hurriedly tries to remove them. Soon, she discovers that Jihoon carries a similar insecurity. Through this realization, Eundal confronts the fragile and constructed nature of what society defines as “normal.”
